Whether you’re a PE teacher or scout leader, our aim is to support you in delivering safe, enjoyable sessions on-site.
Here are the key safety measures we recommend following:
Safety Checklist
One thrower at a time – Only one person should be in the throwing lane while a session is active.
Clear the zone – Make sure no one is in front of the throwing line or retrieving axes during someone else’s turn.
Set clear boundaries – Mark out safe zones around your throwing area and ensure all spectators stand well behind.
Visual supervision – A designated adult must supervise all activity, with eyes on throwers at all times.
No horseplay – Reinforce responsible behaviour at all times. Axe throwing is fun, but discipline matters.
Inspect your kit – Check your targets and throwing axes regularly for wear and tear. Don’t use damaged kit.
Age-appropriate tools – Only use axes suitable for your group. We offer a choice of tomahawks or full-size hatchets based on age and ability.
Secure storage – Axes should be stored safely and out of reach when not in use.
